Description
FINCA HACIENDA TIQUIRES The natural forest present in these farms has very particular characteristics because it represents four Holdridge life zones that all converge with each other in the same area. This implies that there is notorious variability in biodiversity, soil, climate and other abiotic factors. For its part, the Montano Bajo very humid forest life zone, although it had a large area in the country, has been urbanized and used for crops, mainly coffee, which is common in neighboring farms to Hacienda Tiquires, being represented only in this area. The Montano Bajo rain forest area is the highest part of the property, in the vicinity of the Agua Buena Row, it is part of a small area with a pluvial regime that stretches towards the east where there is almost no forest left, most of which can be seen pastures and recently planted areas of coffee, leaving this redoubt of forest in the farms of Cafetalera del Sur and Hacienda Tiquires. The climatic and altitudinal particularity in this area that generates specific biodiversity, even endemic (specific to the place) for some reported tree species, increases its value with other elements and ecosystem services such as the aquifer recharge that occurs in the area, from the Cerro Agua Buena and along the mountain. The Tiquires river, the Ayaral stream, the Parritilla river and tributary streams are born on the farms, all of which emerge on the farms in springs of drinking water that supply the farm and other towns downstream. The scenic beauty is characteristic of the entire area, but the upper part, in the Agua Buena row, is particular because it offers views towards the Pacific coast, the Parrita River Valley and also towards the Caraigres hills and others of the Central Valley that have great tourist value. . The premontane rain forest located in the lower part is also described in the Holdridge Life Zone System as an area of high biological diversity, both plant and animal.
